Need the paleo diet explained? Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have probably heard talk of the Paleo diet. This is the diet that is taking the nation by storm. Nearly everyone from celebrities to athletes to stay at home moms have something positive to say about this diet.

People who have closely followed a Paleo diet menu plan look amazing, feel spectacular, and claim that they have more energy than they have ever had in their whole life. But what is the Paleo diet really? And is it really a wise diet choice for everyone?

The basic idea behind the Paleo diet is ‘eating like a caveman’. After all, if you really think about it, the caveman must have been extremely strong, and in peak physical condition in order to survive. After all, there were no fast food restaurants or automobiles in those days. Instead, our ancient ancestors were forced to get all of their dietary needs met the way that nature intended, by hunting or gathering food from their immediate surroundings.

Think about what a day in the life of a caveman would really have been like. For starters, they constantly had to defend against predators. Whether they were out hunting or sleeping they always had to be ready for a possible attack from a large hungry animal. This meant that your typical caveman had to be ready a moments notice to fight for their life and come out on top.

Additionally, cavemen had to hunt and prepare their own food. They either had to create weapons or use their bare hands to take down their prey. After chasing and killing their prey they then had to prepare it for eating and gather any fruits or vegetables to provide further nutrition.

Finally, the caveman had to work to protect themselves from the elements.  Whether it was brutal winter cold or harsh summer heat the caveman had to struggle and work to survive these extreme conditions.

The point is that all of these activities require an enormous amount of strength, skill, and mental alertness. And since the caveman had nothing to eat except for the things that nature provided, their diet must have played an important role in helping them survive.

Many people who have begun a Paleo diet have claimed to gain more energy, less illness, and a lose excess fat dramatically. When you eat a diet that adheres to the rules of Paleo you are eating for strength, energy, and health.
